In the past we have been giving goats to orphans and widows to help them generate income and produce manure for their garden. This has come to a stop since some of them were coming back to ask for a second goat because the first one died or was sold to solve an urgent need in the family such as sickness or school material.
This year we focused on two groups of beneficiaries, the first being the cell leaders of the community and the second a group of vulnerable in Muyogoro village which were given to us by the Executive secretary.
We have given to 10 of the last year grandaunts’ of the sewing machine class piglets for rearing. Unfortunately, a high death of these has been noticed. A pork disease is suspected and have killed many pigs around. We personally experience the death of all 7 piglets of a female pig that we were keeping here as a family project. We are not discouraged and continue to give it a try and ask veterinary advice.
