The kitchen gardens were built first as a BCM project, and then adopted by the local leaders. In the end we were not able to distinguish what has been ours or not. We went beyond the projected number of kitchen gardens to be built and had to share between many the seeds we had at our disposal. Some species like amaranths did not have to be purchased but picked straight from our garden. Beside the Kitchen gardens, we initiated a project of Mushrooms growing. These have proved to be very nutritious and easy growing. The remaining question is how to get the tubes which contain the mushroom spores. They have to be bought readymade, and sometimes you have to wait to be able to get them. However once, received you start to harvest within a fortnight. The project needs to be followed and more planned.
